What is Agricultural Education?

Agriculture Science I is the first part of a two-year program exploring real-life applications of science and is offered to those students interested in the many related fields of agriculture. Course content includes an introduction to the agriculture industry, introduction to the FFA, wildlife management, food, animal, and environmental sciences, and agricultural mechanics (Tractor Safety, Small Engines Repair, Home Wiring, Woodworking, & Welding).
Additionally, students enrolled in the agriculture science program become members of the Greene County FFA chapter. The FFA (formerly know as the Future Farmers of America) is a dynamic student organization within agricultural education that changes lives and prepares students for premier leadership, personal growth and career success. Today, almost half a million student members are engaged in a wide range of agricultural education activities, leading to over 300 career opportunities in the food, fiber and natural resources industry. Student success remains the primary mission of FFA.
